DescriptionThe whole story▼
Every jump on a motocross track ends with a landing, and the footpegs take much of it. On a GasGas MC 250, a light two-stroke motocrosser that loves to rev, the rider spends a lot of time in the air, and each touchdown is shared between the suspension and the rider's legs, boots and pegs. Accossato makes enlarged footpegs in Ergal for the MC 250 of 2022 and 2023, in orange or black.
Key Features
- Enlarged footpegs for the GasGas MC 250 two-stroke, 2022 to 2023
- Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- More surface under the boot on landings
- For motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles
- Orange or black
- Supplied as a pair
- No ABE documented; for motocross and competition
Construction and Material Quality
What Accossato publishes about these pegs covers their material, their size and their use: Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy; enlarged, so the boot has more support; motocross, enduro and off-road. On an MC 250 the first of those uses is the relevant one, because here the pegs carry the rider through jumps, whoops and braking bumps. The pair is supplied in one colour, orange or black, with one peg for each side.
Landing on the Balls of the Feet
Coaches teach riders to land a jump standing, with the weight centred over the footpegs and the knees and elbows bent. The legs act as extra suspension, flexing as the bike touches down and pushing back as it recovers. The feet should be on the pegs with the balls of the feet rather than the arches, so the ankles can absorb part of the shock as well. A rider who lands sitting down, or with the feet too far forward, feels the landing through the spine instead.
On a two-stroke like the MC 250, the power arrives quickly, and riders tend to land and accelerate almost in the same moment. That makes a stable footing important in the fraction of a second after touchdown. A broader peg gives the front of the boot more surface to press on, which helps the rider keep the same position lap after lap. Practise on small tabletops first, where a slightly short landing does no harm, and build up from there.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the MC 250 from 2022 to 2023 for this set, and we have linked it to both years. There is no other Accossato footpeg for the bike. The same pair is also listed for the MC 250F and the MC 450F, as well as for the Husqvarna FC 250. After fitting, fold each peg up by hand and let it return, and after the first session check that nothing has worked loose.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no approval certificate have been made available to us for these pegs. They are sold for motocross and other competition.
