DescriptionThe whole story▼
Racing materials ask something of the rider in return for what they give. They want heat before they show their full character, they are unforgiving of a lazy first application, and they are wasted entirely on a bike that pootles to a cafe. Accossato's EV2 racing compound is one of those materials, and the company offers it in the AGPA177 front pad for the Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally built between 2015 and 2019, for the small group of owners who use a rally-styled tourer on a circuit.
Key Features
- EV2 racing compound, article number AGPA177EV2, front wheel
- Aprilia Caponord 1200 Rally, model years 2015 to 2019
- Accossato's description of the material: a top racing compound
- Designed for repeated heavy use with little chance to cool
- The hardest of four materials sharing this pad shape
- Two pads to a box; two boxes fill the front of this bike
- Rear pad for the same model: AGPP91
- No approval documents and no German ABE; competition use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato does not decorate its description of the EV2 material, calling it a top racing compound and leaving it there. What sits behind the phrase is a mixture formulated to keep working when the brakes are hot, and one that limits its own heating so fade arrives later. It shares the steel plate and the outline of the other AGPA177 pads, and it comes in the same quantity, two pieces, which is what one caliper needs before it can be bolted back together.
What a Racing Material Expects From You
A pad like this behaves differently in the first five minutes than it does in the tenth. Straight out of the paddock, cold, it is honest but undramatic, and a rider who has come from a road material may reach for more lever than expected. Once the brakes have been worked for a few corners the character changes and the same pull produces a much firmer response. The practical consequence is to warm the brakes deliberately on an out lap instead of trusting them at the first heavy stop. New pads also need bedding before anyone leans on them, a handful of progressively harder applications from moderate speed, which also cleans the disc face. Finally, keep an eye on the friction thickness between sessions; a racing material used as intended disappears faster than a road one.
Fitment and Compatibility
The application data covers the ETV 1200 Caponord Rally from 2015 to 2019 for this front pad. Two calipers grip the front discs of the Rally, so completing the axle means two boxes, and the sides should always be changed together. Owners who want something gentler for ordinary roads will find the same shape in ST, EV1 and ZXC form. Behind the bike, the rear caliper takes the AGPP91 pad, which Accossato lists across the same years.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the AGPA177EV2 in our documentation, nor any other approval we could produce. It is therefore a racing part and we supply it as one.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA177 pads in EV2 racing form, packed as the set for a single front caliper.
