DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many Fireblade owners who ride on track sooner or later have a day that ends with gravel in their leathers. A low-side at modest speed may leave rider and bike largely intact, and the real question becomes whether the CBR1000RR can go back out for the afternoon. The Accossato LV019 is a folding brake lever for the CBR1000RR Fireblade, listed from 2004 to 2019 and made for the original radial master cylinder. Its blade is joined to a black base by a folding joint, and the reach to the grip is adjustable.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade, 2004 to 2019
- Made for the original radial brake master cylinder
- Blade can fold at its joint in a slide or a fall
- Adjustable reach, set at the black base
- Blade with or without the RST lightening cut-out
- Black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver or titanium
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, standard length
Construction and Material Quality
A folding lever has two jobs that pull in different directions: it has to stay put while you brake, and it should be able to move aside when something hits it. The LV019 divides those jobs between its two parts. The black base, machined from aluminium on CNC equipment, sits on the pivot of the radial master cylinder and contains the reach adjuster. The blade, anodised in one of eight colours including titanium, meets the base at a joint, and that joint is what lets it fold. The blade comes in the standard length, with or without the RST cut-out.
The Slide, and the Rest of the Day
A typical track-day low-side starts on the way into a corner or near the apex. The front tyre lets go, and the bike slides on its side into the run-off. In a right-hander that side is the right, and the brake lever is among the first parts to meet the ground. When a conventional lever snaps off near the pivot, the day is usually over, however little else is damaged. A folding blade can swing away from the impact instead, which improves the chances that the lever is still usable once the Fireblade has been recovered from the gravel. Treat that as a better starting point, nothing more. Before going out again, inspect everything properly: blade and base straight, the joint moving as it should, the reach unchanged, and a firm brake with the bike on its paddock stand before you roll off. If anything looks wrong, load the CBR1000RR into the van rather than ride it. A folding lever makes a good outcome more likely; it does not replace a careful check, and it cannot tell you what else the slide has done to the bike.
Fitment and Compatibility
