DescriptionThe whole story▼

Parking is a test of precision. Easing the Z800e into a narrow space between cars, up to a kerb or into the corner of a garage asks for a creep so slow it is barely movement, with the clutch doing almost all of the work. Kawasaki built the Z800e as the A2 edition of the Z800, so many of its riders are still building exactly this kind of low-speed confidence. The Accossato ESK828 is a clutch lever for the Z800e of 2013 to 2016. It is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, has an adjustable span and is fitted at the original clutch mounting.

Key Features

  • For the Kawasaki Z800e, model years 2013 to 2016
  • Clutch lever for the original clutch mounting
  • Span adjustable towards or away from the grip
  • Standard blade (about 138 mm) in seven colours
  • Short blade in five colours, long in four
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised; black hub
  • Fixed, one-piece lever

Construction and Material Quality

Rain, spray and road grime are normal working conditions for a clutch lever, and the ESK828 is finished for them. Once machined, it is anodised, which gives it a hard oxide surface that protects the aluminium and carries the colour without a paint layer that could lift. Pivot and span adjuster sit in the hub, which is black on all versions; the blade is in the colour you pick. The lever is rigid and in one piece, so there is no hinge for grit to work into.

The Last Metre Into a Parking Space

A precise creep uses three controls at once: the clutch just past the bite point to give the bike drive, a steady throttle or none at all, and the rear brake to hold the speed down. Keep the bars as straight as you can for the final metre, since the bike is easiest to balance that way. On the Z800e, the clutch should let you move the bike by a hand's width at a time. That needs the bite point where the fingers are most sensitive, so set the ESK828's span until the take-up comes with the fingers slightly curled. Then practise in an empty car park: creep forward, stop, creep again, turn into a marked bay and stop with the front wheel on a line. The long blade, in blue, gold, green and orange, spreads the take-up over more finger travel and makes those tiny movements easier to control. The standard version of about 138 mm is made in every colour.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list gives the ESK828 for the Z800e under the name Z 800 E VERSION, with the years 2013 to 2016. It replaces the stock lever at the bike's original clutch mounting. The front brake of the Z800e is covered by the EDF021, listed for the same years.

Road Approval

This clutch lever has no documented German ABE and is therefore sold for track use.
