This airbox is offered two media and nothing in between. The standard weave sits at 80 µm and 5,050 l/m²/sec; SM240T12 sits at 7 µm and 560. The intermediate grades that other Sprint Filter housings can be had in are simply not part of the Tuareg listing, which makes the choice unusually blunt: either the ordinary road cloth, or the closest material the range contains. Riders who expect a graded answer to moderately dusty riding will not find one here, and the practical response to that gap is worth spelling out.

When the medium cannot be graded, grade the interval

For air that is dusty but not relentlessly so, the answer in this housing is not a different cloth — it is a shorter gap between airbox visits with the standard one. A panel that is blown through after every dusty stretch spends its life near the clean end of its loading curve, which is most of what a closer medium would have bought. Keep SM240T12 for the riding where that discipline is not enough: extended piste, deep dry-season dust, long stretches behind other machines where the air never clears.

Both sides of the closest grade

Denser means more held back and less let through — a single exchange, made deliberately, and it runs in both directions. The same density that catches the fine fraction also loads sooner for a given volume of air, so the closest grade asks for attention more often, not less. None of this touches output: a panel inside an unmodified airbox leaves a series Tuareg exactly as strong as it was, whatever it is made of. The real return is an intake resistance that starts low and is brought back to that figure by cleaning.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air, directed from the clean face outward, drives the load back out of the nonwoven instead of deeper into it — the direction matters more with this grade than with any other. Lukewarm water and a mild detergent take care of what air leaves behind; rinse the panel thoroughly and let it dry right through in circulating air.
