Two part numbers exist for this airbox in this medium, and every published figure they carry is the same. Same 14 microns, same 1,800 l/m²/sec, same three motorcycles across the same model years. Nothing in the technical data separates them, which means the technical data is the wrong place to look. The one difference the price list records is a single word against this number — kit — and a higher place on the same page. That makes the choice a question of scope of supply, and questions of that kind get checked rather than guessed.
Key Features
- Dry P14 non-woven, filtration rated at 14 microns
- Throughput rated at 1,800 l/m²/sec — the fine end offered for this housing
- Catalogued as a kit; the plain element in this medium carries its own number
- Holds particles through the depth of the mat instead of stacking them on one face
- Roughly twice the filtering area of other performance elements, inside the standard airbox
- Cleaned with compressed air and used again, with two years of cover
When two numbers publish identical specifications
It happens more often than a catalogue makes obvious, and the honest reading is that the difference lies somewhere the specification sheet does not cover. Here that is packaging or scope of supply, since the word kit is the only thing separating the entries. We will not list contents the price list does not name. What we can do is point at the two places the answer will be: the Fitment tab, which reproduces Sprint Filter's machine and year data for this number, and the Downloads tab with the manufacturer's documentation. Read both before ordering; if a bare replacement panel is all that is wanted, the other number is the shorter route.
Why the fine medium at all
Because 14 microns is the finest step listed for this housing, and because Sprint Filter files the medium under demanding conditions rather than under performance. The cost sits on the same line as the benefit: 1,800 l/m²/sec where the woven road element is rated 5,050. More retained, less passed — a trade whose direction comes from the roads being ridden, not from the order of the range. Neither medium adds power: a drop-in filter does not make a standard 650 twin noticeably stronger, and this one is bought for what it stops.
Care and cleaning
Dry servicing throughout. An air line on the clean side of K196P14, directed outwards, lifts the load; because the mat fills through its depth it releases gradually, so work steadily rather than hard. Lukewarm water with a drop of mild detergent deals with anything greasy, and the rinse continues until the water leaves clear. It dries in air at room temperature — a hot-air gun or flame would finish it — and goes back untreated. The maintenance sheet is under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Listed for the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 from 2018 to 2026. The Interceptor 650 shares those years on this number and the Bear 650 joins for 2025 and 2026 — three machines, one airbox. The Fitment tab carries the full listing; check it, and the scope of supply, before ordering.
