DescriptionThe whole story▼
Getting the gearing right on your Yamaha R1 or R1M transforms how the bike feels under you across every session — whether that means a more responsive drive off corners on track or a more relaxed cruise on an open road. The Sitta M001 front sprocket is precision-machined from chrome-molybdenum steel and engineered specifically for the R1/M platform, giving you a seamless fit and long-term drivetrain reliability that holds up ride after ride.
Key Features
- Chrome-molybdenum steel construction delivers exceptional tensile strength and resistance to wear, keeping the drivetrain running cleanly well beyond the lifespan of standard sprockets
- Precision-machined profile ensures exact engagement with no slop, making fitment straightforward and the feel on the throttle consistent from day one
- Four tooth count options — 14, 15, 16 and 17 — let you tailor the gearing ratio precisely to your riding style, track layout or road conditions
- Compatible with both 520 and 525 pitch chains, covering both stock and conversion setups
- Reduced chain wear thanks to the optimised tooth geometry, protecting your chain kit investment over the long run
- Equally at home on the road and the track, suitable for spirited road riding, circuit days and full competition use
Choosing the Right Tooth Count
Swapping the front sprocket is one of the most cost-effective ways to reshape the entire character of the R1/M's drivetrain. The tooth count you choose moves the gearing in opposite directions, and the effect on rideability is immediately noticeable.
A smaller sprocket — 14 or 15 teeth — shortens the overall gearing ratio. The engine revs climb faster for a given road speed, which translates into stronger, more immediate acceleration out of slow and medium corners. This is the preferred choice for tight, technical circuits or anywhere you want the bike to feel more urgent and responsive.
A larger sprocket — 16 or 17 teeth — lengthens the ratio. Top speed rises, the engine sits lower in the rev range at motorway speeds, and the bike covers longer straights with less mechanical effort. Riders who spend time on fast flowing circuits or open roads will appreciate the calmer, more planted feel this brings over extended distances.
