Where It Sits
Öhlins publishes 8 mm, 525.5 mm for 21734-01 — the dimensions are the identity of the part. A shaft is threaded at both ends: one for the piston, one for the mounting. Any mark on the polished section is a reason to replace rather than to reassemble. Adjuster shafts run inside the main shaft on units with a rod-through adjuster.
Genuine Service Part
This is an original Öhlins part, not an aftermarket equivalent — the tolerances are the ones the unit was assembled to. The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise.
Getting the Number Right
Order under 21734-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Check diameter 8 mm, length 525.5 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. Any mark on the polished section is a reason to replace rather than to reassemble. A shaft is threaded at both ends: one for the piston, one for the mounting.
Fitting and Setup Service
If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.
