Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 05981-08

Original Öhlins service part

Function

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Öhlins uses a light spring so the valve reacts to shaft speed rather than to pressure alone. Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp. Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Why the Original

Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 05981-08. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Öhlins uses a light spring so the valve reacts to shaft speed rather than to pressure alone. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05981-08

Category: Check Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05981-08_77859280-1f67-4820-a47a-04f152f63381.png?v=1788874762
