The Catalogue Price
Ducati does not sell the switches apart from the housing. When one contact starts hesitating, the quoted part is the complete assembly, and that number is what makes people look at alternatives.
Semi-Active Damping
The S adjusts its Öhlins several times a second from the inertial platform. On a superbike the weight moves between the wheels faster than any fixed setting could hope to track.
Forged, Not Cast
The S's wheels take rotating and unsprung mass out at the point where it costs the most. It is felt at every direction change rather than only at the top of the rev range.
What a Cut Bore Buys
A tube that still turns concentrically after a decade. Moulded bores relax slowly and the grip develops a small amount of movement that never comes back out again.
Enclosed Elements
Sealed inside the machined body rather than tucked behind a lid. A superbike meets a pressure washer more often than it meets rain and the jet finds every joint there is.
Anodised, Not Coated
The finish is grown into the metal electrochemically. Nothing sits on the surface, so nothing can lift from an edge after five summers of gloves and sunlight.
Aerodynamics From 2020
Ducati added winglets once MotoGP had normalised them. They generate real load at the speeds this motorcycle reaches and they changed how the front behaves when the throttle is opened.
Desmodromic, on Four Cylinders
Mechanical valve closure carried over from the racing engine rather than replaced with springs. It is why the Stradale revs where it does and it is entirely characteristic of the company.
The Loom Stays Whole
Factory connector, no splices, no adapter. The exchange is two fasteners and a plug and it undoes just as easily before a sale.
