Cut for the Diavel Bar
The swept-back handlebar puts the throttle assembly at an angle no sports bike produces. A profile drawn for it routes the cables without forcing them into a tight radius.
Öhlins and Brembo M50
The S carries fully adjustable Öhlins at both ends and monobloc calipers. Ducati specified a 240 kilogram cruiser as though it were a sports bike, which is why it behaves like one.
A Hundred and Twenty-Nine Newton Metres
The torque figure is what actually defines this motorcycle. It arrives almost immediately and it does not stop, which is why the Diavel feels quicker than its power suggests.
Throttle Assembly Only
The switch block remains in place. This covers the housing by itself, which is what an owner needs when nothing electrical requires attention.
A Machined Bore
The tube turns inside a bore that is cut rather than formed. It stays round and the grip keeps its feel across years of mileage rather than seasons.
One Finish
Black anodised, converted into the surface. On a bike whose visual identity is largely machined aluminium and black, it belongs naturally.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 at roughly double the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. It is the correct material for a component clamped to a bar on a heavy motorcycle.
An Argument About Looks
The Diavel divided opinion from launch and never stopped. Ducati sold it in numbers anyway, mostly to people who rode one first and then stopped caring what anyone thought.
Forged Wheels
The S's rims take rotating mass out of a motorcycle that has plenty of it elsewhere. On a bike this heavy, reducing unsprung and rotating weight is where the useful gains are.
