Off-Axis Bolts
Ducati runs two clamp arrangements and this matches the staggered one. The answer lives on the handlebar rather than in the model name or the year of registration.
A Mounting for This Handlebar
The Multistrada's bar is wide, high and used to its stops. A body drawn around that keeps the cables comfortable where a general-fit one forces a tight radius at full lock.
Sold Only as an Assembly
The switches are integral to the moulding, which is why Ducati offers nothing below the complete block. It is a manufacturing consequence rather than a commercial decision.
The Fault That Comes and Goes
Oxidation raises resistance gradually. A control that works on a dry Sunday and hesitates on a wet Tuesday is the classic symptom and it can persist for a year.
Consistency Batch to Batch
Machined parts do not drift. Injection tools wear steadily and the last blocks out of one no longer fit the way the first did, which is invisible until it is not.
Nothing on the Surface
No printed legends means nothing to lose to ultraviolet. On a touring bike that spends its life outdoors, that is visible within a couple of seasons.
Lighter by Five Kilograms
A new rear subframe and a lighter shock. Ducati found the weight in structure rather than in exotic materials, which is the slower and more durable route.
Thirty Thousand Kilometres
Between valve checks. On a motorcycle that genuinely covers that distance in a couple of seasons, the service schedule is a more relevant specification than the power figure.
The One That Makes Sense
The V2 does most of what the V4 Multistrada does at a lower weight and price and without the heat. Owners who have run both frequently prefer it.
