The JP ACC BM008 replaces the S1000RR's throttle assembly with a short-stroke unit that reaches full opening in sixty degrees instead of the rotation the factory chose.

The Second Generation
The 2015 revision brought a lighter frame and revised electronics to a superbike that had already rewritten what the class cost. It is the version that made the S1000RR ordinary rather than remarkable.
The Original Refits
Everything comes off the bar the way it went on, and the standard assembly goes back with the same reset procedure. Nothing about the change is permanent.
Traction Control
It reads wheel speeds and lean angle, not the grip. Changing the throttle assembly gives it nothing new to work with and takes nothing away.
Winter Gloves
Thick gloves eat rotation. A shorter sweep means the same hand position works in January that worked in July.
Two Riders, One Bike
A short-stroke throttle is a preference rather than an improvement. A bike shared between a track rider and a commuter is an argument for keeping the standard part reachable.
Why Manufacturers Choose a Long Sweep
A generous rotation makes a powerful motorcycle forgiving to a rider who is not concentrating. It is a safety decision and a sensible one for a showroom.
On a Motorcycle With Modes
The softest mode still softens and the sharpest still sharpens. What changes is the distance travelled to reach whichever response the mode provides.
Cruise Control and Heated Grips
Cruise control works through the controller's own inputs and cancels at the brake, the clutch and the switch exactly as before. Heated grips are the real question, because the element is bonded to the standard tube on many models and does not transfer.
The Long View
Ten years from now the standard assembly on this motorcycle will have play in it and this one will not. That is the least exciting argument for the part and possibly the most honest one.
