Ducati stripped the 848 superbike and raised the bars. The engine underneath revs hard and asks for a deliberate hand at small openings.
Two Exhausts, Two Maps
An owner who runs a road silencer during the week and a race can at weekends can hold both maps on a laptop and write whichever one the motorcycle needs.
Fuel Grade
A map developed on one octane rating is not automatically right on another. Owners who run race fuel at weekends and pump petrol during the week should hold two maps.
The First Session
Fit the unit, leave the map empty, ride. Then log a few runs, look at where the mixture is wrong and start with the region that irritated you most.
Honest About the Effort
This unit does nothing on its own. Bought with a plan it produces a motorcycle that fuels correctly everywhere; bought on impulse it produces an expensive passenger.

Ignition timing, the rev limiter, traction control and the riding modes. All of them stay with the standard controller and none of them can be touched from here.
The Wideband Purchase
Budget for it alongside the unit. Mapping without one is the commonest reason a programmable controller ends up doing nothing at all.
Track Bikes Are Simpler
A motorcycle with no registration and no test to pass removes the legal question entirely, which is one more reason this unit belongs on a circuit machine.
A Map Has No Ceiling
Unlike a fixed curve it can keep improving as long as somebody keeps working on it. That is the argument for the higher price and it is only worth anything to an owner who will do the work.
