The JP ES 016 stops the Panigale V2 955 lighting a lamp failure on the panel when the number plate illumination has been changed for something the controller cannot see.

Cornering ABS as Standard
Ducati fitted the full electronics package to the V2 rather than reserving it for the V4, which was not a given at the price.
Removed With the Hanger
A tail tidy or a race tail takes the plate bracket and its lamp together, and the resulting warning surprises almost everybody who fits one.
Scrutineering
A lit warning reads as an unresolved fault at the gate regardless of cause, which is reason enough to answer the circuit properly.

Access
On most Ducatis the seat lifts with the key and the connector sits immediately behind it, which makes this a ten-minute job with no bodywork removed. Sports models with a structural tail section may need it loosened, adding a few minutes rather than turning the job into an evening.
What the Load Actually Is
The circuit expects the current a small filament lamp draws, which is a fraction of an amp rather than anything dramatic. That is why the eliminator is a small sealed body rather than a heatsink, and why mounting it sensibly is a matter of tidiness rather than of thermal management.
