The JP ES 016 exists because the Multistrada 1260 watches its plate lamp for current draw, and a modern LED unit simply does not draw enough to satisfy it.

A Longer Swingarm
Ducati lengthened it for stability with luggage and a passenger, which addressed one of the few genuine criticisms of the previous bike.
Removed With the Hanger
A tail tidy or a race tail takes the plate bracket and its lamp together, and the resulting warning surprises almost everybody who fits one.
Keep the Original Hanger
It refits with its lamp and a buyer will want to see it. Storing the assembly costs almost no space at all.
Why Ducati Monitors It
Lighting failures are a roadworthiness matter, and modern regulations require the motorcycle to notice them. The plate lamp is included whether anybody expected it or not.
On a Registered Motorcycle
The plate has to be lit. Riders converting a bike for a circuit are the audience here, not owners of road machines.

Two minutes with a camera makes the eventual refit straightforward, particularly where the loom is routed behind the subframe.

Anybody chasing a lighting fault later will assume the circuits are standard, and an eliminator is not obvious to somebody who is not looking.
Where the Heat Goes
Restoring a load means turning the missing current into warmth, which is unavoidable in any part that does this job. It matters only in where the body is mounted: somewhere air moves, tied off clear of wiring and plastic, rather than pressed flat against the inside of a seat unit where the heat has nowhere to go.
Two Circuits, Two Parts
Owners fitting a full rear conversion frequently need the plate lamp answered and the tail light answered, and those are separate connectors with separate part numbers. Ordering one and discovering the panel is still lit is the commonest disappointment in this corner of the catalogue.
