The Sensible Choice
The S costs considerably less than the RS and delivers most of the experience. Buyers who have ridden both often conclude the difference is not worth the money.
A Colour Screen
Fitted from 2017, when several rivals still used monochrome. Triumph moved early on the dashboard and the implementation has aged well.
Overfilling at the Pump
Continuing after the nozzle clicks pushes liquid petrol into the charcoal, and a soaked bed causes hard starting and an uneven idle that nobody traces back to a fuel station.
Ethanol and Charcoal
Modern fuel blends age the bed faster than the petrol the system was designed around, which is one reason older canisters are so frequently saturated.
Nothing Is Modified
No holes are drilled, no lines are shortened and no connectors are cut. That is the property that makes the decision reversible at all.
The Inspection Question
Where periodic testing includes a visual check of emissions equipment, an absent canister is a straightforward failure. Keeping the parts makes the refit an evening rather than a parts order and a delay.
What Does Not Change
Power, torque, throttle response, fuel consumption and the way the motorcycle rides. Anybody promising otherwise is describing something they have not measured.
A Component That Predates the Symptom
By the time an owner notices hard starting, the canister has usually been failing for a year or more. There is no gradual warning and no partial failure worth detecting.
The Empty Bracket
Leaving it behind collects road grime and serves no purpose. Removing it takes two more bolts and makes the frame look finished.
