A VFR With Longer Legs
Honda took the VFR800's V4 and put it in a taller, more upright chassis. The Crossrunner never sold in numbers and the people who bought one tend to keep it.
A V4 That Sounds Right
The 782 cc engine has the gear-driven camshafts and the character that made the VFR name. It is one of the quieter pleasures in Honda's catalogue.
What the Canister Does
Traps fuel vapour from the tank in charcoal and releases it into the intake later. It works and it occupies space under the bodywork.
The Circuit the ECU Watches
Removing the purge valve produces a stored fault within seconds. This unit supplies what the controller expects so nothing is logged.
Emissions Approval
The system is part of the motorcycle's registration. Removing it is a modification for closed circuits and this listing states it plainly.
Space Under the Tank
On a bike this densely packaged, removing a cartridge and several metres of hose makes everything else easier to reach. That is often the actual motivation.
Blank the Hoses
Open vapour lines collect dirt and eventually smell of petrol. Capping them is part of the same job and it takes a few minutes.
Original Connector
Nothing spliced. The canister goes back for an inspection in the time it takes to lift the seat and the tank.
Six Model Years
The Crossrunner ran from 2017 to 2022 in this form. Honda has not replaced it, which has made surviving examples quietly sought after.
Nineteen-Inch Front Wheel
Honda gave the Crossrunner a larger front wheel than the VFR it derives from, along with more suspension travel and an upright bar. It was never intended to go off tarmac and the geometry made it considerably more comfortable on a broken road, which is where most of its owners actually ride.
