Why Supermoto Riders Shorten the Throttle
Backing the rear in and picking it up again on the throttle depends on moving from closed to fully open in one deliberate action. A shorter throttle travel makes that transition more precise, which is the specific reason this conversion turns up on SMC R models.
A New Home for the Old Switch
The quick throttle replaces the stock assembly entirely, taking its switchblock with it. This unit remounts horn, indicator and light controls on the replacement throttle body rather than leaving them without a fixed point, dangling against the fork leg where they would otherwise catch on gloves.
Solid Ergal Against Repeated Shock
Supermoto riding loads the whole front end with sharp, repeated impacts under braking, and a CNC-machined solid housing tolerates that better over time than a moulded part would, with the bronze anodising applied once machining is complete rather than sprayed over a part still carrying its mould lines.
No Cutting Into the Loom
Because the wiring plugs into KTM's original connector, nothing about the bike's factory harness needs to be cut or re-terminated to fit this switch, which keeps the SMC R's relatively simple electrical system exactly as straightforward to service as it was before the conversion.
A Finish Visible on a Minimal Bike
The SMC R carries little bodywork, and a bronze-anodised switch block stands out clearly against its stripped-down styling rather than blending into a fairing the way it might on a sportbike, which fits a model bought specifically to be seen doing something other than normal road riding.
