Why a team keeps one
Akrapovic's own description puts it in the pit lane: every second counts when the exhaust comes off between sessions, and a hook turns a two-minute fight into a ten-second job. The same applies in a home garage, where the time saved matters less than the paintwork that does not get scratched.
The rubber handle
A spring under tension pulls hard. A bare metal shaft twists in the hand and slips; a rubber grip does not. It is the difference between a tool you use and one that lives at the back of the drawer.
Which springs it suits
Exhaust springs are broadly standard across manufacturers — the hook is not matched to Akrapovic systems in particular. It works on a stock header joint as readily as on a race system, which is why Akrapovic sells it without a fitment list.
Filed in the wrong place
Akrapovic lists P-CMSP under Promotional Material in its price file, alongside flyers and banners. It is a workshop tool, and that is where it belongs — with the exhaust accessories, next to the wash plug P-GUV007, which is filed in the same wrong section.
