DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Suzuki GSX250R is a small faired sports bike built for riders at the start of things: a licence recently passed, a first set of leathers, a first booking at a circuit. Accossato lists it from 2017 to 2020, filed under the name GSX-R 250, and offers the FC122 for it, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium. On a bike like this the parts you change are less important than the habits you build around them, and a track day is mostly a matter of doing the same few things in the same order.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki GSX250R, 2017 to 2020
- Accossato lists the model as GSX-R 250
- Aluminium, machined throughout on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl in place of a slower fitting
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl sold separately as a spare
- Compare your bike with the application list before ordering
- No German ABE documented; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the body of this cap from aluminium alone, machined on CNC equipment, and describes the result as robust and durable with a design of its own. In place of a fitting that has to be turned there is a quick-closing pawl, which shortens the moment when the GSX250R's tank stands open. The pin held in the pawl carries the colour and is selected from six options at the time of ordering. If the pawl suffers damage later on, it can be bought by itself, which is worth knowing on a first bike that is likely to be learned on rather than treated gently.
Building a Routine You Can Repeat
New riders are told a great deal about lines and braking points and very little about what happens in the twenty minutes between sessions. A routine helps, and it does not need to be complicated. Bike onto the stand and switched off. Helmet and gloves on the bench, not on the seat. A drink. Then a look over the machine: chain, tyres, anything hanging loose, and the fuel. If the tank needs filling, do it now rather than at the last call, with the can steady and the funnel clean. Close the cap and check that it is shut before you touch anything else. Doing it in the same order every time means that on the day you are tired or distracted, the GSX250R still leaves the awning properly prepared.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's entry for this cap is written as GSX-R 250 and covers 2017 to 2020, which is what this listing includes. The same FC122 is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the DL250 V-Strom, the SFV650 Gladius and the GSX-S750. Please check the application list before ordering if you are unsure which entry matches your machine.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no parts certificate documented for this cap, so it is sold for closed circuits. The GSX250R keeps its standard cap, normally opened with the ignition key, for riding on public roads.
