DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Z500 SE is the better-equipped version of Kawasaki's twin-cylinder Z500, and like the standard bike it arrived for 2024. It is light enough to push around the paddock with ease, and that ease can make owners a little careless about where they park it. On a hot day or on grass, the ground under a side stand is not always as firm as it looks. For the Z500 SE of 2024, Accossato lists the FC126, an aluminium filler cap with quick release whose pawl pin is available in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z500 SE, 2024
- CNC-machined aluminium throughout
- Robust and durable in Accossato's description
- Quick-closing pawl, new design
- Pin in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- Pawl sold separately as a spare
- No German ABE on record; for the track
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato produces the FC126 from aluminium, CNC-machined throughout, and considers it robust and durable; the look is new. Opening and shutting are the job of a quick-closing pawl, which gives quick access to the Z500 SE's tank. Its pin colour is yours to choose from six. A damaged pawl can be replaced separately, which is useful to know on a light bike that, as the next section shows, can end up on its side without being ridden at all.
When the Paddock Ground Gives Way
Paddock tarmac softens in strong summer sun, and many circuits use grass or gravel areas when the main paddock is full. A side stand concentrates the bike's weight on a very small foot, and on soft ground it can sink slowly until the bike leans further and further over, sometimes falling while its rider is away at the briefing. A flat plate or puck under the stand spreads the load and costs almost nothing; better still is a paddock stand that keeps the Z500 SE upright. If the bike has gone over, lift it with care and check the tank area first: look for fuel around the FC126, feel whether the cap still sits evenly and make sure the pawl is closed. Wipe away any fuel and let the area dry before you start the engine. Take extra care after refuelling, since a full tank adds weight high up, just where it makes a leaning bike more likely to tip.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato enters the Z 500 SE of 2024 for the FC126, the one model year listed for this version. Inter-Pace also carries this cap for the Ninja 500 and the Eliminator 500 SE. A quick comparison of your bike's details with the application list avoids surprises.
Road Approval
The FC126 has no German ABE and no documented parts certificate, so we supply it for circuit use. The Z500 SE is delivered with a cap that normally locks; keep that original on the tank for road riding.
Scope of Delivery
One Accossato FC126 fuel tank cap, pin colour as selected; the pawl is also sold separately.
