DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Six Days editions of the KTM 125 EXC carry the name of the International Six Days Enduro, an event with more than a century of history, and are often ridden in its spirit: long days, several timed tests and a bike that has to keep going. Summer events add a problem of their own, which is dust. On a dry test the rider ahead leaves a cloud that hides ruts and stones, and braking turns into guesswork. For the 125 EXC Six Days of 2014 to 2016, Accossato offers the B8283, a front brake lever machined in Italy from Ergal 7075 with a blade that can fold.
Key Features
- Folding CNC brake lever for the KTM 125 EXC Six Days, 2014 to 2016
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Anti-break joint lets the blade fold forward when the bike goes down
- Short blade for three fingers, as Accossato designs its brake levers
- Cut from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC machines in Italy
- Dark base, blade in black, blue or orange
- No German ABE documented; made for off-road use and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The B8283 is built from two pieces, both milled on CNC machines in Italy from solid Ergal 7075. Accossato chose that high-strength aluminium alloy with a clear brief in mind: the lever should be strong, light and reliable. The dark base sits on the master cylinder pivot and holds the joint, while the blade, in black, blue or orange, is the part that folds. It is a short blade, because Accossato lays out its off-road brake levers for three fingers.
Braking into the Dust
Anyone who has followed another rider down a dry forest track knows the difficulty. The tyre in front throws up fine dust that hangs between the trees, and the ground beneath it disappears. Holes, square-edged roots and loose rocks come into view later than they should, and the braking for the next turn often starts a moment too late. Riders learn to leave a gap, to read the line of the treetops for the direction of the track, and to brake earlier and more gently than they would in clear air.
Sometimes the gap closes anyway. A hidden rock knocks the front wheel off line under braking and the bike falls to the right, onto soil baked hard by the sun. That is the kind of crash the B8283 has a better chance of surviving than a solid lever. Its blade sits on a joint and can fold forward instead of taking the impact at one fixed point. If it does, you pick up the 125 EXC Six Days, check that the front brake still works and ride on towards the next time check, which on a dusty day already feels far enough away.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's listing pairs the B8283 with the Six Days version of the KTM 125 EXC built from 2014 to 2016, where it replaces the lever on the original front brake master cylinder. On the left, the C7284 folding clutch lever covers a longer period, 2009 to 2016. Both come in black, blue and orange, so the 2014 to 2016 bikes can wear a pair in one colour.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE documented for the B8283. A 125 EXC Six Days is normally registered for the road, but with this lever it is not approved for public roads; the lever is meant for off-road and competition use.
