Getting the fit right at the back of your helmet makes a genuine difference on long rides. The Shoei Rear Head Pad M5 Type-P is the slimmer alternative to the standard M9 module, opening up noticeable space across the rear head and neck area of the X-SPR Pro — a quick, tool-free upgrade that costs very little and delivers real everyday comfort.
Key Features
- Slimmer M5 profile creates a roomier, more relaxed fit in the rear and neck zone compared to the standard M9 module
- Type-P pad design — purpose-built for precise interior customisation of the Shoei X-SPR Pro
- Velcro attachment system allows a clean, secure fit and a swap that takes only minutes without any tools
- Compatible with optional tuning pads from the Full Set Hard and Full Set Soft pad kits for even finer adjustment
- Maintains overall helmet stability while relieving pressure on riders with a broader rear head or sensitivity in the neck area
Everyday Comfort, Dialled In
The X-SPR Pro ships with the M9 rear pad as standard. For riders who find the back of the helmet sits a little snug — whether due to head shape, hair, or simply preference — the M5 module is the most cost-effective first step. You remove the existing pad, press the M5 into place on the helmet's built-in velcro surfaces, and the job is done. No fitting appointment, no specialist tools, no guesswork.
The difference is immediately noticeable: the helmet stays firmly on your head but the pressure across the lower rear section eases, which over the course of a full day in the saddle adds up to a significantly more pleasant experience.
Fine-Tuning with Pad Sets
If the M5 alone gives slightly too much rearward movement for your liking, Shoei's Full Set Hard and Full Set Soft tuning pads (each sold separately) can be layered with this module to find your exact sweet spot between freedom of movement and secure retention. This modular approach means you never have to settle for a compromise out of the box.
Finding Your Module Size
Not sure which module size is currently fitted to your helmet? The size designation is printed on the back of the pad already installed. Alternatively, you can cross-reference your helmet shell size with the Shoei sizing guide to confirm the correct replacement module.
