DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some riders never take a finger off the clutch. It is a habit picked up on technical ground, where drive may be needed or cut at any moment, and it is a good one, but it has a side effect that shows up in the parts rather than in the riding. A control that is under light load for hours at a time wears in a way that an occasionally used one does not. On a 450XC-F that is worth knowing. Accossato lists the AGS14 for this model from 2013 to 2018, a silver clutch lever in the original form.
Key Features
- Clutch lever in the original form for the KTM 450XC-F
- Accossato's entry covers 2013 to 2018
- Silver
- Left-hand side, hydraulic clutch
- An original spare parts type rather than a tuning part
- Accossato states that its production method improves resistance after damage
- One lever per pack
- No approval papers held; listed for racing and competition
Construction and Material Quality
The shape under the fingers is the reason a rider builds a habit in the first place. The AGS14 follows the form of the clutch lever the 450XC-F was delivered with, so a replacement sits at the same distance from the grip and takes the same angle, and the technique that has been trained over a season carries straight over. Accossato groups it among the original spare parts types it developed for value for money, and reports that the way these levers are produced leaves them more resistant after damage or a collision. Silver is the listed colour, and no further detail is published.
A Finger That Never Leaves the Lever
Riding with a finger permanently on the blade is sound technique on ground where the next demand is unpredictable, but it puts a constant small load on the pivot and it means the control is moving, very slightly, for the whole ride. Two consequences follow. The first is wear: the pivot bore and the bolt work against each other more than they would otherwise, and when dust is added the pair polishes itself oval, which shows up as sideways play at the end of the blade. The second is the risk of riding with the clutch fractionally disengaged without meaning to, which happens when a tired hand rests rather than hovers, and which a rider notices only as a machine that feels flat and gets hot. Neither is a reason to change the technique. Both are reasons to look at the control more often than the handbook suggests. Hold the end of the blade and move it sideways to check for play, feel the whole travel for a dry patch, and strip and grease the pivot several times a season rather than once. Replace the bolt if its shank has gone rough, because a worn bolt will ruin a new blade quickly. And keep the free play at rest that the manual asks for, so that a resting finger cannot quietly hold the 450XC-F between drive and neutral.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the AGS14 for the 450XC-F from 2013 to 2018 and names no second original-type clutch lever for the model, while the brake side is covered by the AGD316 from 2014 to 2018. The clutch code is shared across a large group of machines built alongside this one and is catalogued with us for the Beta RR 390 4T, the Husqvarna FC 250 and the Husqvarna TE 300 as well. Accossato's CNC levers for the 450XC-F are the B8283 and the C7283 for anyone who prefers a tuning part.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE and no test mark for the AGS14 in our documents, since Accossato supplied none, and the lever is listed for racing and competition use.
