DescriptionThe whole story▼

A Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono rarely spends its whole life on tarmac. Owners fit knobbly rubber, find a gravel road or a dirt oval, and discover that the machine is light enough to be thrown about on loose ground. For that use Accossato presses the AGPP91 plate in its Off-road sintered material, article AGPP91STMX, listed at the rear wheel of the 698 Mono from 2024 to 2026 and presented by the company as the compound for riders who leave the road behind.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, 2024 to 2026
  • AGPP91STMX: the AGPP91 plate carrying Accossato's STMX friction material
  • Presented by the maker as its mixture for riding away from tarmac
  • Made for a pedal that is dragged rather than dabbed
  • Two pads to a box, the pair for the single rear caliper
  • OR and ST cover the same plate for road use
  • The front wheel of this model takes the AGPA177
  • No German ABE on file; a competition part

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato has been building parts for machines that see dirt since long before supermotos became fashionable, and the company took an enduro world title in 1985. The STMX face on the AGPP91 plate belongs to that side of the catalogue and is presented without embellishment as the mixture for riders who go off the road. What separates it from its two tarmac siblings is not the steel behind it but the way the friction layer is expected to cope with grit, water and a pedal in near-constant use.

Mud, Sand and a Dragging Pedal

Away from tarmac the rear brake changes job entirely. It is held on through a rutted corner to keep the back of the Hypermotard 698 Mono where the rider wants it, feathered down a loose descent instead of being used in one bite, and worked almost without pause on a dirt oval where the machine is steered as much with the rear as with the bars. Everything that flies up from the tyre passes between pad and disc while this is happening, so the material lives with an abrasive of its own making.

After the Dirt

A day on loose ground ends with a cleaning routine, and the rear brake belongs in it. Wash the mud out of the caliper before it sets, because dried sand between a pad and its mount is what makes a brake bind, and judge how much material survived the day while the wheel is still wet. Both pads are replaced together. Keep degreaser off the disc face, and once everything is back in place, press the pedal until it firms up, then make a few deliberate stops on a hard surface before the next session.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the AGPP91 at the rear of the Hypermotard 698 Mono for 2024 to 2026, and the front of that machine is covered by the AGPA177 across the same years. One box holds two pads, which is one caliper's worth. Riders who use the 698 Mono only on the road will find OR and ST on this plate instead, and no brake disc for this Ducati appears in the Accossato range.

Road Approval

Neither a German ABE nor any test documentation exists on our side for the AGPP91STMX, so it is supplied for competition and off-road use.

Scope of Delivery

One box, two AGPP91 pads in the STMX compound, the set for a single rear caliper.
