DescriptionThe whole story▼
When a touring day on the Hyperstrada 821 ends, the rider has usually covered more ground than planned and eaten less than intended. Ducati conceived the Hyperstrada as the travelling version of its Hypermotard, with luggage and more wind protection, and many owners use it exactly that way, linking one mountain road to the next. Trouble often waits at the very end, in a hotel courtyard or a guesthouse drive, once concentration has gone. Accossato makes the PF05 for the Hyperstrada 821 of 2013 to 2015: a pair of black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Hyperstrada 821, 2013 to 2015
- Accossato front fork protection, code PF05
- Two protectors, left and right
- Aluminium and plastic, finished in black
- Accossato packs spacers, screws and the other mounting parts
- Intended to touch down first in a tip-over
- No German ABE documented; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Two protectors make up the PF05, one for each side of the front end, and both are black. Accossato combines aluminium and plastic in them and packs the spacers and screws together with every other part the installation calls for. Its own description is brief, and we keep to it: front fork protection for specific applications, the Hyperstrada 821 among them. Their role is that of a stand-in. If the bike goes down, they are meant to take the first contact with the road, which can limit the damage to the fork and to the region around the front wheel. A slider that has done that job carries the marks, and it should then be renewed.
The Last Few Metres of the Day
Silly falls have a way of happening in the final minutes of a long day, and anyone who tours knows why. The legs are stiff, the hands are slow and the mind is already in the shower. The Hyperstrada 821 adds factors of its own: a fairly tall seat, and luggage that makes the bike heavier and wider when you walk it into a tight space. A few habits help. Take a short break before the last stretch instead of pressing on to the finish. When you arrive, study the ground before you commit to a spot: a sloping gravel yard, a kerb at the entrance or a patch of wet cobbles can each be avoided by parking a few metres further on. Put the side stand on firm ground, turn the bars towards it and leave a gear engaged. Take the luggage off only once the bike is standing securely, and if you feel too tired to manoeuvre, ask someone to steady the bike while you climb off.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's list gives the PF05 for the Hyperstrada 821 from 2013 to 2015, and that is the range we have linked. It is the only Accossato protection part listed for this bike. The same pair appears in our shop for the Hypermotard 939, the Monster 1200 and the Multistrada 1200 Enduro. Once the sliders are on, spin the front wheel and move the handlebar from one lock to the other: nothing should rub, the brake calipers included. Tighten the screws as the workshop manual prescribes and check them again after the first ride on your Hyperstrada 821.
Road Approval
We have no German ABE and no other test or approval paper for the PF05, so we sell it for racing and competition purposes.
