DescriptionThe whole story▼
Hard enduro routes love a scree slope: a steep hillside of loose, broken stone where nothing stays put under the tyres. The 300 two-stroke is the classic tool for that kind of ground, and the KTM 300 EXC Six Days is the special-edition version of KTM's 300 enduro. Going down scree is mostly a matter of front-brake control. Made for the 300 EXC Six Days of 2014 to 2022, Accossato's B8283 keeps the brake blade short, for three fingers, and hinges it so it can fold forward if the slope wins.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the KTM 300 EXC Six Days, 2014 to 2022
- Replaces the stock lever on the front brake master cylinder
- Joint lets the blade fold forward instead of snapping
- Short blade, three-finger layout by Accossato
- Machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Dark base, black, blue or orange blade
- Supplied as one lever
- No German ABE documented; not approved for public roads
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, today based in Villastellone near Turin, machines the B8283 from a solid piece of Ergal 7075. The alloy is a high-strength aluminium grade, and it serves the three aims the company sets for its off-road levers: strength, low weight and reliability. Out of the CNC process come two parts that work together. The dark base stays at the master cylinder pivot and carries the hinge; the blade, black, blue or orange, can fold forward on it. As on every Accossato off-road brake lever, the blade is short, with space for three fingers.
On Loose Scree
Scree punishes a heavy hand. Squeeze the front brake hard and the front tyre stops turning, the stones beneath it start to move, and the bike slides with them, usually sideways. The way down is a light, constant pressure on the lever, more rear brake than usual, a low gear so the engine can help a little, and the body well back over the pegs, so that the 300 EXC Six Days rolls at a pace the stones can carry. Keep your eyes on the bottom of the slope, not on the rock directly in front of the wheel.
Even with good technique, scree sometimes wins. The front washes out, the bike lies down on its right and slides a few metres over broken rock, the lever grinding along with it. Scree is sharp, and a solid lever dragged across it or knocked against a larger stone often ends up snapped. The B8283 has a joint that allows its blade to fold towards the front, giving it a chance of coming through intact. Pick the bike up across the slope rather than straight down it, remount carefully and carry on at the same patient pace.
Fitment and Compatibility
The B8283 is listed for the KTM 300 EXC Six Days from 2014 to 2022 and replaces the original brake lever. Earlier Six Days models are not included on the brake side; for them, Accossato offers the C7283 clutch lever, which covers the 300 EXC Six Days from 2006 to 2022. Black, blue and orange are shared by both levers, while red is a clutch-lever option only.
Road Approval
The 300 EXC Six Days is normally registered for the road, but no German ABE is documented for the B8283. Fitted to the bike, it is intended for off-road riding and competition, not for public roads.
Scope of Delivery
