DescriptionThe whole story▼
Steep descents are where a big four-stroke enduro bike shows its weight. On a Husqvarna FE 450 many riders go down in a low gear and let the engine hold the bike back, keeping a hand ready on the clutch in case the rear wheel locks or the engine threatens to stall. Accossato's C7283 is the folding clutch lever listed for the FE 450 of 2014 to 2016, CNC-machined from Ergal 7075. Its long blade has room for four fingers, and its joint lets it fold forward if the descent ends with the bike on its side.
Key Features

- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red, dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road use and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato is based in Villastellone, near Turin, and makes its off-road levers in Italy. The C7283 is cut on CNC machines from a solid block of Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy chosen for strength, low weight and reliability. The lever has two parts: a dark base that sits at the pivot of the FE 450's original clutch control, and a blade in black, blue, orange or red, joined to the base by the hinge that lets it fold. The blade is long, with space for four fingers, the shape Accossato uses for all its clutch levers.
Going Down in Gear
The logic of descending in gear is that engine braking works on the rear wheel constantly and smoothly, leaving the brakes for fine adjustments. On a steep, loose slope the FE 450 is put in first or second, the rider stands with weight back and lets the bike roll, and the clutch is used whenever the rear tyre starts to skip or the engine is about to die. A brief pull on the lever lets the wheel turn freely again and gives the engine a chance to recover; then it is released smoothly to restore the braking effect.
Timing matters. Hold the clutch in too long and the bike runs away; release it with a jolt and the rear wheel locks and slides. When it goes wrong at the bottom of a rocky slope, the bike falls with more speed than a standing topple. If the left side hits first, the C7283 is designed so its blade can fold forward in that kind of impact instead of snapping at its tip. Whether it survives depends on how hard and where it lands, but a lever that folds leaves you a better chance of riding out of the valley rather than pushing.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the Husqvarna FE 450, Accossato names the C7283 as the clutch lever for 2014 to 2016, fitted in place of the stock lever at the original clutch mount. The 2017 FE 450 has its own listed clutch lever, the C7284. The B8283 folding brake lever covers all FE 450 model years from 2014 to 2017. If you want matching colours on both sides, choose black, blue or orange; red is offered only on this clutch lever.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the C7283. Although the FE 450 can be registered for the road, the lever is not approved for public-road use and is supplied for off-road and competition riding.
Scope of Delivery
