Four media are made for this airbox and a Svartpilen 200 is offered three of them. There is the standard P08, a woven polyester at 80 microns passing 5,050 litres per square metre per second; the P14, a dry nonwoven at 14 microns and 1,800; and this one, the P08 F1-85 racing weave at 85 microns and 15,000. The fourth, the T12 at 7 microns and 560, is listed only against the KTM models that use the identical housing. Same box, shorter menu — worth saying out loud, because a list of what can be bought is not a list of what is suitable.
Key Features
- Sprint Filter's racing medium: dry polyester, 85 µm, 15,000 l/m²/sec
- The most open of the three elements offered for this Husqvarna
- Never oiled: no film to travel along the intake, nothing to reapply
- Takes the paper panel's place in the standard airbox, without modification or remap
- Cleaned with compressed air and reused for the life of the machine; two-year warranty
- Built for competition — for a road-ridden 200 the P08, or the P14 through dry summers
Why a racing weave is on the shelf at all
Sprint Filter's work sits in racing; by the company's own account its filters are the most used in MotoGP, World Superbike, Supersport and Superstock. A medium developed there is then cut for every housing it will fit, and that is a manufacturing decision rather than a view on your motorcycle. For the Svartpilen 200 the catalogue reaches the racing end of the range and stops short of the extreme end, and neither fact was settled by what a 199.5 cc road single needs.
What this engine can do with 15,000
A flow rating describes a square metre of cloth, and the only question it answers is whether the engine is short of air. A 199.5 cc single in road trim is not short of it: the standard weave already supplies more than the motor asks for anywhere in its range, so multiplying that supply by three creates headroom this bike has no way to spend, while the wider mesh is open on every ride in between. For that the racing element asks a little over two and a half times what the P08 asks. And whichever of the three goes in, a replacement element does not make a standard motorcycle noticeably stronger; it lowers the resistance the engine starts against and lets you restore that figure by washing.
Care and cleaning
Servicing the PM200S F1-85 takes a compressor and a few minutes: air on at the clean face, worked outward across the panel, carrying the load back out the way it arrived. Where a dry spell has left more behind than air will shift, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse until the run-off is clear. Drying is done in moving air and nowhere else — no radiator, no hot-air gun, no flame — and refitting waits until the polyester is dry through. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Husqvarna Svartpilen 200, 2022 to 2026, in the standard airbox with nothing altered. This code covers thirteen machines across Husqvarna and KTM, so order by code and model year rather than by the badge on the tank. The Fitment tab names them all.
