BMW gave the naked S1000R the M treatment in 2023, and the right-hand switch stayed as it was. The JP PD BM008 is the milled Ergal replacement for it.

Winglets on a Roadster
The M1000R takes the M engine, the M brakes and, unusually for a naked motorcycle, aerodynamic winglets, and puts them on a bike with no fairing to hide them behind. It is the most openly track-derived roadster BMW has built, and the one where the contrast between the racing hardware and the standard plastic switchgear is most visible from the saddle.
A Short Production Run So Far
Because the M1000R only appeared in 2023, most examples are still on their first set of controls and the original switch has not yet had time to go vague. Fitting a billet unit now is a different decision from fitting one to a decade-old bike: it is about how the cockpit looks and feels from the start rather than about replacing something worn out.
Where the Thumb Sits
The riding position puts more weight through the hands than a supersport does and less than a tourer. The right thumb therefore rests naturally on the cluster instead of stretching for it, and the machined edges give it something definite to locate against. On a bike used mostly on the road, that consistency matters more than saving grams.
Prepared for a Brake Change
The universal hole pattern accepts both the factory clamp geometry and the offset arrangement used by aftermarket radial master cylinders. An M1000R that sees track days will very likely receive one, and this switch does not have to be reconsidered when it does.
