DescriptionThe whole story▼

The V9 Roamer is a bike many riders choose after passing their test or after a long break from riding: low, unintimidating and friendly at town speeds, yet with the easy pull of a large twin. For someone still building confidence, most of the nervous moments happen at the clutch, when pulling away at a junction or turning slowly into a driveway. The Accossato ESC037 is a clutch lever for the Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer of 2016 to 2020, CNC-machined from aluminium, with a reach that can be brought closer to the grip.

Key Features

  • Clutch lever for the V9 Roamer, 2016 to 2020
  • Replaces the original lever at the clutch mounting
  • Reach adjustable for smaller hands
  • Short blade in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
  • Standard blade approximately 138 mm; long blade in four colours
  • Anodised aluminium, black hub
  • Fixed lever that returns to the same resting point

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the lever out of aluminium and anodises it: black on the hub, colour on the blade. Anodising thickens the thin oxide skin that aluminium forms naturally, dyes it and seals it, so the finish becomes part of the lever rather than a coat on it. The hub holds the pivot and the reach adjuster. The blade has no hinge; it is a fixed lever that returns to exactly the same position each time you let go, which helps while you are still learning where the bite point lies.

An Hour in an Empty Car Park

A classic exercise for newer riders goes like this: find a quiet, level car park, pull away in first gear using only the clutch, then ride slowly with the lever held at the friction point, letting it out a little to go faster and pulling it in a little to slow down. Ten minutes of that teaches more about a clutch than a week of commuting. On the V9 Roamer, the exercise is easier when the lever sits where your fingers can hold it steadily without stretching, so set the reach of the ESC037 first. Riders with smaller hands may find the short blade comfortable; those who want the lightest pull can choose the long one, which gives the most leverage. Once low-speed control feels natural, move on to hill starts: hold the bike with the rear brake, add a little throttle, let the clutch out until the engine note drops, then release the brake and feed in the rest of the lever. Before long, none of it needs conscious thought.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the ESC037 for the V9 Roamer from 2016 to 2020, as the V9 850 Roamer, and it fits at the bike's original clutch mounting. For the front brake, the EDF016 is listed for the same years, so both levers can be ordered as a pair.

Road Approval

There is no documented German ABE for the ESC037, so our offer is for track use.
