DescriptionThe whole story▼
Six millimetres. That is the entire difference between this manifold and the STEP1 below it, and Spark charges exactly the same for it — which makes the choice between them a question about the engine rather than about money.
Key Features
- Stainless steel 3/4 manifold at 60 mm for the Yamaha R1 and R1M.
- STEP2 of Spark's three-diameter range: D.54, D.60, D.65.
- Same list price as the D.54 STEP1 manifold.
- Deletes the catalytic converter.
- Takes the D.60 silencer groups, including the Force with dB killer.
- Supplied without a silencer.
Choosing Between D.54 and D.60
Since the two cost the same, Spark's own answer is the one to use, and it is about model years rather than budget: the D.54 was the first version, optimised for the 2015-2019 R1, and Spark notes it allows an even lower decibel reading. The D.60 is the system optimised for 2020-2023, matched to a silencer with a 60 mm inlet.
Both fit the whole 2015-2025 range mechanically, so the choice is real either way. If your bike is a later one, or if the circuits you ride do not measure at the gate, the D.60 is the diameter Spark designed around it.
Where This Sits in the Range
Spark's R1 programme reads as a ladder and the rungs are diameters. D.54 and D.60 are 3/4 systems: the standard headers stay, the section behind the collector is replaced, the catalytic converter comes out. D.65 is where the headers go too, and where the price roughly triples.
Buying the D.60 manifold on its own puts you on the middle rung with a silencer of your choosing. It is also the diameter with the widest silencer selection on this bike — five different cases, including the one supplied with a removable dB killer for circuits that measure at the gate.
Fitment & Compatibility
Yamaha R1 and R1M, 2015 through 2025. Complete with a Force silencer this manifold becomes GYA8878T. The titanium version of the same manifold is GYA8858; the narrower STEP1 in stainless is GYA8828.
Road Approval
None. The catalytic converter is removed, which ends road legality on its own. Closed circuits only.
