DescriptionThe whole story▼
The K46 S1000RR can take the open-form throttle housing from BMW's boxer family. The JP CO BM018 replaces the throttle assembly and right-hand switch block with one milled Ergal body.
Key Features
- BMW S1000RR (2015–2018)
- Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
- Integrated right-hand switch block
- No model lettering on the housing
- Black anodised
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
A Shared Part Across Very Different Bikes
This housing fits a 200 hp superbike and a 1250 cc touring boxer, which says a great deal about how consistently BMW has kept its right-hand interface. The connector and the throttle geometry are common across the range even where nothing else is, and JetPrime has built one part around that fact.
Open Housing on a Superbike
The BM018 body is cut away rather than fully enclosed, which is a different shape from the closed BM008 unit also listed for this motorcycle. Which one an owner prefers is largely a matter of how the cockpit looks from the saddle, since both carry the same controls and both plug into the same connector.
Replacing a Ten-Year-Old Assembly
A 2015 to 2018 RR has usually had a hard life. Track use, pressure washing and the occasional crash all reach the throttle side of the bar first. When the mode button starts to feel indistinct there is no way to renew it alone, because BMW built the switches into the housing.
No Lettering
An RR-badged version of this housing exists. This part number is the plain one, which is what most owners of a track-prepared bike choose on the grounds that the cockpit should be as visually quiet as possible.
Choosing Between the Two Housings
Both the BM008 and the BM018 fit this motorcycle, and the difference is the shape of the body: closed and round on the first, cut away on the second. The BM008 family is also offered in four anodised colours where this one is black only. Neither is technically superior; they carry the same controls and use the same connector.
A Part That Sees Pressure Washing
Track bikes are cleaned hard and often. Milled from one piece with sealed switch elements, this housing has no moulded seam for water to enter, which is the failure mode that matters on a machine washed while still warm.
