DescriptionThe whole story▼

The DL1050 kept what made the V-Strom useful and sharpened the electronics around it. What it did not change is the left hand's job, which on a bike this size is mostly low-speed control with a full tank and luggage aboard.

Key Features

  • Folding blade that swings clear instead of snapping off
  • Engineered break point inside the two-finger zone
  • Phosphated pivot seat, free of play from new
  • CNC-machined from solid aluminium, black anodised
  • Milled Gilles face for a secure gloved grip
  • Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203

Material

Solid aluminium, machined, black anodised, phosphated at the pivot. The milled Gilles face on the upper surface gives a gloved fingertip a consistent place to sit, which matters more than it sounds when the glove is thick and the bike is heavy.

Setting the Bite Point

Turn the central wheel until engagement falls where your fingers already are. Do it with the engine running and the bike in gear, because the point you feel on the stand is not the point you get when the clutch is actually loaded. Thirty-five shallow detents let you move a single step rather than overshoot.

Weight Makes Reach Matter

A loaded DL1050 at walking pace is held on the clutch. A lever a few millimetres too far out means opening the hand fully every time, and with a heavy bike that is the difference between confident manoeuvring and dabbing a foot down.

Road Approval

Approved for German roads under ABE No. KBA 91203. No entry in the documents and no testing-organisation inspection are needed; carry the printed certificate from this page.

Scope of Delivery

A single black clutch lever for the DL1050 V-Strom. The switch actuation is carried over from the factory lever and is not part of the delivery.
