DescriptionThe whole story▼

Sooner or later most Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200s change hands, and a buyer who knows what to look for will crouch beside the rear wheel before any talk of money. Scrapes on the swingarm and around the rear axle are among the clearest signs of a fall, and they are hard to explain away. Accossato's PP011 gives the Dorsoduro 1200 of 2010 to 2015 a black pair of rear axle sliders in aluminium and plastic, intended to collect such marks in place of the parts behind them.

Key Features

  • Rear axle sliders for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200, 2010 to 2015
  • Accossato rear fork protection, part number PP011
  • Two protectors, one for each side
  • Aluminium and plastic in black
  • Spacers, screws and further fitting parts supplied, according to Accossato
  • Sacrificial part: replace it after a heavy impact
  • Same sliders listed for the Dorsoduro 750 and Shiver 750
  • No German ABE on record; track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

The PP011 is a set of two black protectors, each combining aluminium with plastic. Accossato describes the kit as complete, with spacers, screws and every other mounting part in the box. At the back of a motorcycle, axle sliders have one job: if the bike tips over or slides, they should meet the ground before the swingarm and the rear axle area, which can lessen the damage to those components. The sliders themselves are expected to scrape, wear and now and then break. That is the point of fitting them.

What a Buyer Sees at the Back Wheel

People who inspect used bikes for a living follow a routine, and the rear of a Dorsoduro 1200 is on it. They run an eye along the swingarm for gouges that have been painted over, look at the tips of the footrests and the rear brake pedal for grinding, and check whether the tail light and the number plate holder sit straight. A scuffed slider tells them the bike has been down, but it also shows that something took the hit in place of the swingarm. An owner who keeps the receipts for replaced sliders and can say when and how the bike fell usually has an easier conversation than one with fresh paint and no story. If you mean to keep the Dorsoduro for some years and then sell it, protect the parts that are costly or awkward to replace and treat the sliders as consumables. Renew a heavily worn one without delay and note the date in the service booklet.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the PP011 for the Dorsoduro 1200 from 2010 to 2015. In our shop the same rear sliders are also linked to the Dorsoduro 750, the Shiver 750 and the Shiver 750 GT. For this bike, Accossato adds the PF019 front axle sliders and the TP052 crash pads, should you want protection in more than one place. If your Dorsoduro 1200 falls outside the years given, please check with us first.

Road Approval

The PP011 comes without a German ABE or any test certificate we could show, so we sell it for the racetrack and for competition.
