DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Z500 joined Kawasaki's range in 2024 as a twin-cylinder naked bike that many riders buy new as their first larger machine. A new bike brings a particular temptation: the circuit day booked for the first free weekend, before the engine has settled in and before the first service. Patience pays here. For the Z500 of 2024, Accossato lists the FC126, a tank cap with quick release, milled from aluminium on CNC equipment and fitted with a pawl whose pin comes in six colours.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z500, model year 2024
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Robust and durable according to Accossato; new design
- Quick-closing pawl
- Six pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl available separately
- No German ABE documented; for circuit use
Construction and Material Quality
The FC126 is milled from aluminium on CNC machines, the complete cap, and Accossato rates it as sturdy and long-lasting. Its design is new. The quick-closing pawl opens and closes the Z500's tank rapidly, and the pawl's pin can be black, silver, red, blue, green or gold. Should the pawl be damaged, a replacement is available by itself. The firm behind the cap goes back to 1969, when it was founded in Moncalieri.
Running In Before the First Circuit Day
Every new engine goes through a running-in period, and the owner's manual sets out how the Z500 should be treated during it; typically that means varied revs, no sustained full throttle and gentle use until the first service. A circuit asks for the opposite, so the first track day belongs after that service, not before it. Use the running-in time well. Ride the Z500 on different roads, get used to its brakes and its riding position, and learn how it feels with a full tank and a nearly empty one. At the first service, ask the workshop to look at everything that will matter on track, from chain tension to brake pads. Fit the FC126 only when the bike is ready for the circuit, with the engine cold and the bike on a stand, and check the cap's seat after the first refuel. The first day on track will be all the better for the wait.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the FC126 for the Z 500 of 2024, a single model year. You will also find the cap in our catalogue under the Ninja 500 and the Eliminator 500, which share the Z500's twin-cylinder engine. If your Z500 is from a later model year, look at the list before ordering, as only 2024 appears in this entry.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no parts certificate are documented for the FC126, so it is a part for the circuit. The Z500's own cap normally locks with the ignition key and is the one to use on public roads.
