DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Multistrada 1200 is built for distance, and its fork preload adjuster is one of the settings a rider carrying a pillion or luggage ends up using more than most, turning the hexagon at the top of each leg to compensate for the extra weight before a long ride rather than leaving the suspension set for riding solo. Accossato's 14 mm adjuster, CNC-machined in aluminium and anodised to order, gives that hexagon a clean surface for a socket, which matters on a bike where the adjustment gets made more than once a week rather than once a season.

Key Features

  • Fork preload adjuster for the Ducati Multistrada 1200, 2015-2018
  • 14 mm internal hexagon
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised to order
  • Supplied as a pair, one adjuster per fork leg
  • Seven colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium, gold
  • Also fits any adjuster with the same 14 mm hexagon
  • No other Accossato parts currently listed for this Multistrada 1200
  • No German ABE on file; offered for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Machined on CNC equipment from aluminium, this adjuster carries a 14 mm hexagon and an anodised finish in seven colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, titanium and gold. Accossato's stated function stays the same across its whole preload range: adjusting the pre-stressing of the fork springs, with the finish there for appearance rather than performance.

Compensating for a Pillion and Luggage

Touring two-up with panniers loaded changes how much a fork compresses under its own static weight before a rider even sits on the bike, and preload is the adjustment that corrects for that shift. On a Multistrada, which covers the kind of distances where luggage and passengers come and go from one trip to the next, having an adjuster that turns easily under a socket means that correction actually gets made rather than skipped because the stock cap is awkward to grip.

Fitment and Compatibility

Three Multistrada 1200 versions take this adjuster in Accossato's listing: the standard bike from 2015 to 2017, the Sport Pack of the same years, and the Touring version through to 2018. Away from Ducati, the identical 14 mm hexagon turns up on the BMW S1000RR, the Kawasaki Z800 and ZZR1400, and three Suzuki models including the GSX-S1000. The 1260, the Multistrada that followed this bike, uses the same hexagon too, though it is listed as a separate part. No other Accossato part is currently listed for this Multistrada 1200.

Road Approval

No test or approval documents, including an ABE, are held for this adjuster, so it is offered for racing and competition use.
