DescriptionThe whole story▼

A motocross meeting on a Husqvarna TC 250 is a day of short, intense efforts separated by long waits: a qualifying session, a first moto, a gap in the paddock, then the gate again. Whatever happens in the first race shapes that gap. If the two-stroke went down, the time meant for drinking, resting and studying the start is spent checking bars, pegs and levers instead. For the TC 250 of 2014 to 2016, 2019 to 2020 and 2022, Accossato makes the B8283, a front brake lever with a folding blade, machined from Ergal 7075.

Key Features

  • Folding front brake lever for the Husqvarna TC 250 two-stroke
  • Listed by Accossato for 2014–2016, 2019–2020 and 2022
  • Fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever
  • Short blade, which Accossato lays out for three fingers
  • Joint that Accossato calls anti-break: the blade can fold forward in a crash
  • CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
  • Dark base, blade in black, blue or orange
  • No German ABE documented; for motocross and closed-course riding

Construction and Material Quality

Look closely at the B8283 and you see two components rather than a single lever. The base, in a dark finish, stays on the master cylinder pivot. The blade, in the colour you ordered, is attached to that base by a joint, and this joint is what allows it to fold. Both are machined on CNC equipment in Italy out of solid Ergal 7075, one of the strongest aluminium alloys in common use, which Accossato relies on for a lever that is tough, light and dependable. Because it works the brake, the blade is short and meant for three fingers.

Between Two Motos

Motocross meetings usually split each class's racing into two or three motos, and the gaps between them are shorter than the timetable suggests. A rider who crashed in the first race comes back to the paddock with a list: bars straight, radiators clear of dirt, controls working. On the TC 250 the front brake lever is most at risk in a slow slide towards the inside of a right-hand turn, because a front wheel that washes out there lays the bike on its right side.

A solid lever that snaps at its tip leaves a stub the fingers can barely reach, and a new one is not always in the toolbox. The B8283 gives its blade another way out: the joint lets it tip forward as it meets the ground, so there is a fair chance the lever still works when the bike is picked up. How often that succeeds depends on the angle and force of each fall, so packing a spare is still sensible. On the days it does work, the break between motos goes back to being a break, and the second start is made with the same lever as the first.

Fitment and Compatibility

Three version groups of the Husqvarna TC 250 appear on Accossato's list for the B8283: 2014 to 2016, 2019 to 2020 and the 2022 bike. Model years 2017, 2018 and 2021 are not listed for this brake lever. It fits the bike's own front brake master cylinder, taking the place of the stock lever. For the clutch side of the TC 250 Accossato offers two folding levers, the C7284 for 2014 to 2020 and the C7283 for 2022; the latter is the only one of the three also sold in red.

Road Approval

The B8283 has no German ABE. It is meant for motocross tracks and closed off-road ground, which is where a competition bike like the TC 250 is ridden in any case.

Scope of Delivery
