DescriptionThe whole story▼

The rear wheel of a Benelli Leoncino 800 lives in a worse neighbourhood than the front one. Whatever the front tyre lifts off a wet road is flung backwards along the bike, and the rear caliper sits in that line collecting water, grit and road salt for the length of the ride. Accossato's Sintered (ST) material in the AGPA42 shape is listed for the rear of the Leoncino 800 from 2022 to 2023, and it suits owners who go on riding once the forecast turns.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the Benelli Leoncino 800 from 2022 to 2023
  • Also listed for the Leoncino 800 Trail of 2022 and 2023
  • AGPA42 outline in the Sintered (ST) material, ordered as AGPA42ST
  • Accossato names an unchanging grip level cold or hot, and confident behaviour on a wet disc
  • A box holds two pads, exactly what the one rear caliper is given
  • The same outline also exists in the OR and ZXC materials
  • At the front the bike takes the AGPA112 from 2022, or the AGPA177 in 2022 and 2021
  • No German ABE documented; sold for competition and circuit use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato's account of the Sintered (ST) material comes down to holding a line. Grip stays where it was whether the disc is cold at a junction or hot after a hill, and water across the friction face does not change the reply that comes back through the pedal. At the rear of a motorcycle the wet part of that promise counts for more than it does at the front, because a rear disc on a soaked road is never properly dry from the moment you leave home until the moment you park. The mixture fills the AGPA42 outline and arrives as the pair the rear caliper takes.

Where the Road Throws Its Dirt

A rear brake on a winter bike fails through neglect long before it fails through use. Spray carries grit into the caliper, road salt dries on everything, and a chain that has just been lubricated will throw a fine mist of oil towards the disc if the job is done carelessly. None of that is dramatic, but together it shortens the life of a set of pads and can leave a rear brake that feels vague when you ask it for something in a hurry. Wipe the rear disc with a clean rag after any work on the chain, and keep aerosols pointed away from it.

In use, the rear of a Leoncino 800 earns its keep on wet approaches. A light, early press settles the bike as it turns into a slippery roundabout, keeps the chassis calm on a greasy descent and lets you adjust speed without asking anything more of a front tyre that is already busy. Ride it with the ball of the foot and use less than feels natural on a dry road. After a run on salted tarmac, rinse the back of the bike with plain water, then dry the brake with a few gentle presses of the pedal before the bike is put away for the night.

Fitment and Compatibility

This pad is the rear fitment for the Leoncino 800 from 2022 to 2023, and the Leoncino 800 Trail of 2022 and 2023 shares it. Because the rear wheel has a single caliper, one box covers the change, and both pads go in together regardless of which of them looks the more tired. The front takes a different shape depending on age, the AGPA177 for the first two seasons and the AGPA112 thereafter, and riders renewing front and rear at once should order accordingly. No disc for this Benelli exists in the Accossato range.

Road Approval

We have no test certificate for the AGPA42ST and no German ABE has been granted. Its place in our catalogue is among competition parts for closed circuits.
