DescriptionThe whole story▼
Few bikes change hands as often as a Kawasaki KX65. A child learns on it, grows out of it in a couple of seasons and moves on, and the little two-stroke goes to a younger brother or sister, a cousin or the family down the road. By then its levers have usually been bent, straightened and bent again. The B8262 is Accossato's folding front brake lever for the KX65 of 2000 to 2022, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a short blade and a joint that lets it fold forward in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding front brake lever for the Kawasaki KX65, 2000 to 2022
- Replaces the stock lever on the original front brake master cylinder
- Short blade with a three-finger layout
- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward rather than break
- CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, gold or green, base in a dark finish
- No German ABE documented; for youth motocross and off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the B8262 on CNC equipment in Italy from a solid piece of Ergal 7075. The high-strength aluminium alloy is chosen for three qualities the company wants in every lever: strength, low weight and reliability. The B8262 is made in two parts, a dark base on the pivot of the original master cylinder, where the joint sits, and a blade in black, blue, gold or green that is free to fold forward on it. It is the short brake blade, designed for three fingers, and the four colours make it easy to give a hand-me-down bike a small fresh touch.
Handed Down
When a KX65 passes to a new rider, it pays to set it up again rather than keep the last child's settings. Hands differ in size, and a lever angle that suited an older sibling may leave a smaller rider stretching. Loosen the master cylinder clamp, rotate it so that the lever sits in line with the forearm when the rider is standing, and tighten it again; then sit the child on the bike and watch how the fingers reach the blade. Check the brake pads and fluid while you are at it, because a bike that has been through several owners may have missed a service or two.
A worn or bent lever is also a good reason to fit a new one at hand-over time, and the B8262 brings a joint that lets the blade fold forward if the KX65 goes down on its right. Young riders fall often, mostly at low speed, and a lever that can fold has a fair chance of coming through such falls in usable shape, although no lever survives everything. When the new rider eventually outgrows the KX65 as well, the bike can be passed on again, with luck with its brake lever still straight.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the B8262 for the Kawasaki KX65 from 2000 to 2022, fitted to the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever. The C7220 folding clutch lever is listed for the same years in black, gold or green; blue is offered on the brake side only.
Road Approval
The B8262 is supplied without a documented German ABE and is intended for youth motocross on closed ground.
