DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki's GSX650F is the faired sibling of the Bandit 650: an inline four-cylinder engine wrapped in a full fairing that keeps the wind off on longer runs. Many owners use it exactly as intended, as an easy-going sports tourer for weekends away, often with a passenger on the back and bags strapped to the seat. Extra weight changes the way a motorcycle stops. The Accossato EDF014 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the 2008 to 2015 GSX650F, with an adjustable reach and a choice of blade lengths for the hand that has to do that work.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the GSX650F from 2008 to 2015
- Fits the original Suzuki master cylinder
- Long blade for whole-hand braking in blue, gold, green and orange
- Standard blade of approximately 138 mm in all seven colours, short blade in five
- Reach to the grip adjustable
- Anodised CNC-machined aluminium, black hub
- Fixed blade, no hinge
Construction and Material Quality
A sports tourer collects miles, and its controls collect the wear that comes with them. The EDF014 is machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodised afterwards, so its colour is carried in an oxide layer grown from the metal rather than in a coat applied on top. That makes the finish durable where gloves rub against it ride after ride. The hub, black in every version, holds the pivot and the reach adjuster; the blade continues from it as one fixed piece without a folding joint, so there is no hinge that could gradually develop play.
Loaded for a Weekend Away
A passenger and a full set of luggage add a lot of mass, much of it high up and towards the back. Under braking, that mass still wants to travel forward, so the front brake needs more force and the fork dives further before the bike settles. Two things make the difference. The first is a smooth beginning to every stop, so that the passenger is not thrown forward and helmets do not knock together. The second is enough leverage to deliver a firm stop without the hand tiring over a day of riding. The long EDF014 gives the fingers room along the blade and more leverage, which is useful if you brake with the whole hand when the GSX650F is fully packed. The adjuster then sets where the travel begins, so the first contact comes early and softly. For riders who also ride solo and prefer two fingers on the brake, the standard blade is the more versatile choice.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF014 for the GSX 650 F from 2008 to 2015. The lever mounts on the original master cylinder, taking the place of the stock part. On the left of the handlebar, the ESS014 clutch lever is listed for the same years, so a matching pair in one colour is possible for any GSX650F of that period. Keep in mind that black and red blades exist only in the standard length, and silver in standard and short.
Road Approval
German road use is not covered, as no ABE has been documented for this lever; it is sold for the track.
