DescriptionThe whole story▼
The JP ES 036 B restores the S1000R's indicator load, for bikes with the second connector type.
Key Features
- BMW S1000R (2013–2020)
- Restores the indicator circuit load
- Clears the indicator warning on the panel
- Plugs into BMW's own connector
- For the second connector type
- Standard units refit at any time
The Flex Frame
BMW designed the 2021 chassis to bend in controlled ways rather than resist everything, which is how the S1000R gained feedback without losing precision.
Two Hundred and Five Horsepower
Detuned from the RR for midrange and giving up remarkably little. On a real road the naked bike is quicker more often than either owner admits.
A Common Track Bike
Naked, quick and cheaper than the RR, which is why these appear at circuits constantly and why the indicators rarely survive the first year.
Reversible
The standard units refit and the eliminator unplugs, with nothing left in the loom.
Wide Bars on a Superbike Engine
The leverage a handlebar gives changes what two hundred horsepower feels like at the wrist, and not always reassuringly. It is the entire appeal of the category and the reason these get ridden hard.
Two Symptoms, One Cause
A doubled flash rate and a warning on the panel both come from the same current measurement. Answering it clears both at once.
Look Before Ordering
The B connector is not tied to a model year. BMW changed suppliers midway through several production runs and both types appear on the same models.
Mounted, Not Dangling
The eliminator needs somewhere solid to sit. Left swinging on its own wires it will eventually fail, which is true of any component treated that way.
The Relay Is Not Adjustable
Some older motorcycles allowed a different flasher unit to be fitted instead. BMW integrates the function into the body controller, so replacing a relay is not an option on any of these.
The Body Controller Decides
On an older motorcycle a flasher relay could simply be swapped for one that did not care about load. BMW moved the function into a controller that also handles the immobiliser, which removes that option entirely.
