DescriptionThe whole story▼

The retro Z900RS takes the same left-hand switch as its modern siblings. The JP PS KA044 replaces it with a machined Ergal body.

Key Features

  • Kawasaki Z900RS (2018–2025)
  • Full street control set
  • Black or titanium anodising
  • CNC-milled Ergal 7075
  • Sealed switch elements
  • Plug-and-play on the original connector

Round Dials and Modern Wiring

The Z900RS presents itself as a 1972 motorcycle and is wired like a 2018 one. The two chrome-rimmed analogue dials are genuine analogue instruments; behind them sit traction control, ABS and a connector shared with the Z900 and the ZX-6R.

The Least Convincing Detail

Everything on this bike is chosen to support the period impression: the tank shape, the ducktail, the paint, the seat stitching. The moulded switchgear is the one component that does not participate, and owners notice it precisely because everything around it is trying so hard.

Machined Is Closer to Period

Controls in 1972 were metal, and while nobody would mistake this housing for a Z1 part, an anodised aluminium body cut from solid belongs in that cockpit far better than injection-moulded plastic does. It is a subjective argument and the one owners make.

Sealed Because It Gets Ridden

Retro bikes are not garage queens in Europe; they get used. Sealed switch elements in a one-piece housing are what determine whether the indicator still feels right after five seasons of ordinary weather.

Two Finishes

Black and titanium. Titanium sits well against the chrome and the polished engine covers; black disappears. Neither attempts to match the Candytone paint, which would be a mistake.

Eight Model Years

The fitment runs from the 2018 launch to 2025, covering the whole production run of the current shape including the SE. Kawasaki left the handlebar interface alone throughout.

Ridden, Not Displayed

Retro motorcycles in Europe get used rather than kept indoors, and the Z900RS is no exception. That is what puts the switchgear under load: ordinary weather, ordinary mileage, and the slow softening of a moulded button that nobody notices happening.
