DescriptionThe whole story▼
CK15055 covers the ZX-6R's swingarm on both sides. The swingarm sits under the chain and in the path of everything the rear tyre picks up, and on a race bike it also spends its life being handled.
Key Features
- Left and right swingarm protectors as a pair
- Carbon laminate, prepreg inner face, autoclave cured
- Covers the surfaces exposed to chain contact and stone strike
- Exposed weave, no clearcoat
- Fits the standard swingarm without modification
The Stand Hooks Do More Damage Than the Chain
Everyone expects chain damage and most bikes never see any. What every race bike sees is the paddock stand: hooks going on and coming off twice a session, forty weekends a year, always in the same place, usually in a hurry. The marks that result are the ones a buyer notices, and they are entirely avoidable. The same applies to the chain adjuster area, which gets attacked with a spanner every time the chain is set and shows it.
Take Them Off to Set the Chain
The left protector sits over the area a spanner has to reach when the chain is adjusted, and the temptation is to work around it. Do not: a socket slipping off an adjuster nut lands on carbon, and the mark is permanent. Two fasteners and thirty seconds gets the panel out of the way, and it is the difference between a protector that stays presentable for years and one that looks worse than the swingarm it is covering.
Not a Crash Guard
Worth being clear about what these are for. They cover a surface against wear, contact and debris; they do not protect a swingarm in a crash, and nothing that thin could. If the concern is a slide rather than a season of handling, the part that does that job is a set of axle sliders, and it is a different purchase.
