DescriptionThe whole story▼

Riders who set off before the rest of the street is awake develop a whole set of quiet habits: the garage door lifted slowly, the engine left to warm on the move, the first junction taken without a handful of throttle. Brakes have a part in that too, because a rear caliper that squeals at walking pace carries further down a row of houses than anyone would like. Accossato lists the AGPA42 for the rear of the Ducati SuperSport 950 S from 2020 to 2024, and article AGPA42OR carries the Organic material, which the company associates with a long working life and with limited wear on the disc.

Key Features

  • Rear brake pads for the Ducati SuperSport 950 S, 2020 to 2024
  • AGPA42OR: the AGPA42 shape in the Organic material
  • Accossato connects this version with long service and gentle disc wear
  • A single rear caliper, so one box changes the axle
  • Two pads in the box, the pair for that caliper
  • Front pads for the machine: the AGPA177 over the same period
  • The shape is also pressed in ST and ZXC
  • No German ABE on file; supplied as a competition part

Construction and Material Quality

Everyday material is judged over years rather than over laps, and the two claims attached to this one are both long-term. It should go on working rather than fading out of usefulness in a season or two, and it should leave the disc in a condition worth keeping. Nothing about the fitting changes with the choice, since the AGPA42 plate is common to every version of the article and only the layer on its face differs. A SuperSport 950 S used mostly for early starts and long, calm journeys asks very little of the rear brake in any single application, and a great deal of it in total.

Leaving Early Without Waking the Street

Low-speed squeal is a question of vibration rather than of wear. Pad and disc set each other buzzing at a frequency the caliper happens to amplify, and the result is loudest exactly when a bike is being walked out of a drive at six in the morning. It says nothing about how well the brake works, but it does say that something in the assembly is not quite settled.

Several small things help. Clean the pad seats so the pads sit flat and move freely, make sure the caliper is free on its mountings, and take the glaze off pad faces and disc with a light abrasive if a set has spent months being used gently and never heated. Remove any lubricant from the friction surfaces entirely; a smear on a disc does far more harm than good. And bed a new set in properly with some firm stops on a quiet road, because material that has never been up to temperature is the kind most likely to sing. A SuperSport 950 S leaving at dawn should be heard as an engine, not as a brake.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato dates the rear pad for this model from 2020 to 2024, and the single caliper at that end means one box per change. The front runs the AGPA177 over the same seasons, where two calipers call for two boxes. The catalogue also holds two disc references for the SuperSport 950 S, the DK053 and the DKS053, which are different from one another. Since the pad shape is used across several machines, the article number is the detail that makes an order exact.

Road Approval

An ABE for the AGPA42OR is not among our papers and no German test certificate exists for it here, so the pads are listed for racing and closed courses.

Scope of Delivery

One box of two AGPA42 pads in the Organic material, the complete set for the rear caliper of the SuperSport 950 S.
