DescriptionThe whole story▼

For the Ninja H2 of 2015, Kawasaki developed a supercharger for the four-cylinder engine with help from other parts of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, including its aerospace and gas turbine divisions, and the bike wears the group's River Mark emblem on its nose. Speed builds on the H2 very quickly, and every fast run ends at the front brake lever. Accossato makes the EDF099 for that job: a machined aluminium brake lever for the Ninja H2 of 2015 to 2020, adjustable in reach and available in three blade lengths to suit the way you brake.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Kawasaki Ninja H2, listed 2015 to 2020
  • Short blade for two-finger braking in blue, gold, green, orange and silver
  • Long blade for four fingers in blue, gold, green and orange
  • Standard length about 138 mm in every colour
  • Adjustable distance to the grip
  • Fits the original master cylinder
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, black hub, fixed blade

Construction and Material Quality

The H2 is a showcase of machining and finish, and the EDF099 is made in a way that fits it. Accossato cuts the lever from aluminium on CNC machines, giving it sharp edges and a blade profile that stays constant from pivot to tip, then anodises it: black at the hub, which houses the pivot and the reach adjuster, and a colour of your choice on the blade. The anodised layer is formed from the aluminium itself, so it is hard-wearing and even. The blade has no hinge, and the lever stays stiff under the heavy braking loads a bike like the H2 produces.

Two Fingers or Four

Riders argue about how many fingers belong on a front brake, and the honest answer is that it depends on the hand, the lever and the job. Two-finger braking keeps the ring and little finger wrapped round the throttle, which gives a smooth transition from brake to throttle and a firm hold on the bar. It relies on a powerful brake, and a modern high-performance machine has one. Four-finger braking gives the hand more leverage and more force, and some riders find it calmer in a true emergency. The EDF099 lets you choose. The short blade is designed for two fingers: it ends before the outer fingers, so they cannot be trapped between blade and grip at full squeeze. The long blade gives four fingers space and extra leverage. The standard blade sits between the two, and all three can be moved closer to or further from the grip with the adjuster. On an H2 that sees track days, many riders go short; on the road, standard or long is the more common choice.

Fitment and Compatibility

In Accossato's catalogue the EDF099 appears for the Ninja H2 from 2015 to 2020, under the entry Ninja H2 1000. It fits the original master cylinder in place of the stock lever. For the clutch side, the ESH011 is listed for the same model years. The track-only H2R is not part of this listing.

Road Approval

The EDF099 is a track item: for its use on the Ninja H2, no German ABE is documented.

Scope of Delivery

The EDF099 arrives as a single brake lever in an Accossato box, in the colour and length you picked.
