DescriptionThe whole story▼
Riding a small sports bike quickly is mostly a matter of not throwing speed away. The CBR300R, the fully faired single that took over from the CBR250R in 2014, has enough performance for a lively country road, but whatever you scrub off in a bend takes a while to come back. Its front brake is therefore used in short, exact doses more often than in long, heavy squeezes. Accossato's EDF025 replaces the original brake lever of the 2014 to 2021 CBR300R with a CNC-machined aluminium lever whose reach to the grip you set yourself.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Honda CBR300R, model years 2014 to 2021
- Fits the original Honda master cylinder
- Reach to the grip adjustable near the pivot
- Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) or long blade, depending on colour
- Machined from solid aluminium, anodised finish
- Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
- Fixed one-piece blade, no hinge
- No German ABE documented, sold for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the EDF025 out of a solid aluminium blank and anodises it once the shape is finished. Two tones result. The hub, which carries the pivot and the reach adjuster, is black on every lever, and only the blade takes the colour you order. Because the lever is milled rather than cast, its profile stays consistent along the whole blade, and there is no joint anywhere between hub and tip. For a light bike ridden with small, precise inputs, a lever with no give along its length is the right thing to have under the fingers.
Keeping the Momentum
On a CBR300R, the quickest way through a sequence of bends is usually the smoothest one. Every time the brake takes off more speed than the corner needs, the single has to earn it back, gear by gear. Riders who get the most out of small bikes therefore brake lightly and briefly, and only as much as the bend asks, often without pulling the lever anywhere near the grip. That kind of braking lives in the first part of the lever travel, and it depends on knowing exactly where the pads begin to bite. Set the reach so that your fingertips rest on the blade while the hand holds the throttle, and the bite point arrives after a short, predictable movement. Many owners who ride this way pick the short blade and brake with two fingers, keeping a firm hold on the grip for the throttle that follows. The short EDF025 is made in blue, gold, green, orange and silver. If you prefer to brake with the whole hand, the standard blade, closest to the original, feels more familiar.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF025 for the CBR300R from the 2014 model year through 2021 and names only this one version of the bike. The lever takes the place of the original on the stock master cylinder. On the left side, the ESH250 clutch lever covers the same span with the same black hub and colour range, should you want both levers on your CBR300R to match.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the EDF025. We sell this brake lever for use on closed circuits.
