The SSP 6.0 designation refers to the 6.0 mm disc thickness — a specification that suits riders running aggressive racing calipers and track-oriented brake pads. This thickness keeps rotor flex to an absolute minimum under hard, repeated braking zones, giving the rider a precise, consistent lever feel from the first lap to the last.
Engineering Detail
The angled drilling pattern is the centrepiece of the SSP 6.0 design. Unlike perpendicular holes, the angled bores remove slightly more material in a controlled manner, reducing the disc's contribution to rotating unsprung mass. Less rotating mass at the front wheel translates directly into more agile turn-in, lighter steering and reduced gyroscopic resistance — all qualities that matter acutely when you are threading a Panigale V4 R through a technical section at race pace.
