Thirteen machines share this element, and two of them settle the question. One is the RC 390 R, sold without a number plate for circuit use. The other is the 390 Duke, a road bike carrying the largest engine on the fitment list. Same housing, same part number, two entirely different jobs — the family contains its own comparison, and it is the most useful thing to look at before ordering the racing weave. The P08 F1-85 passes 15,000 litres per square metre per second against the P08's 5,050, and gets there by opening the cloth from 80 microns to 85.
Key Features
- Dry polyester in Sprint Filter's racing specification: 85 µm, 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Roughly twice the filtering area of a typical performance element
- Never oiled — nothing to spread onto the intake sensors of a modern single
- Straight swap for the original panel in the standard box; no remap, no fabrication
- Serviced with compressed air for the life of the bike, two years of cover from purchase
- Racing specification — a road 390 Duke is better matched to the P08 at 80 µm
One code, two different questions
On the R the question is how quickly an element can be cleaned between sessions and how little it costs the engine to breathe at the top of the range, since that machine runs near full throttle most of the time. On a road 390 Duke the question is what happens across two years of commuting, weekends and winters, where full throttle is a small share of the time and the air carries whatever the traffic in front puts into it. The first question is answered by flow, the second by retention, and no single weave is the best answer to both.
If the Duke sees the circuit as well
Plenty do, and the case then turns on habits rather than horsepower. A coarser weave is defensible where the airbox is opened often, where the engine is inspected on a shorter clock than the handbook's, and where most of the distance happens on a surface somebody sweeps. If a 390 Duke visits a circuit twice a year and covers the rest on public roads, none of that holds, and the wider mesh works against the bike for the other fifty weeks. Either way, an element inside a standard airbox is not a power part: it lowers the restriction the engine starts from and lets that figure be restored.
Care and cleaning
A service for the PM200S F1-85 begins and usually ends with an air line: air on the clean side, pushed outward so the dirt leaves by the face that collected it. Where a season has left more than air will shift, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse until the water is clear. Then leave it drying in open air for as long as it takes — never with a heat gun, never near a flame — and refit only when no dampness is left in the cloth. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the KTM 390 Duke, 2017 to 2026, replacing the original element in the standard airbox. The same code is listed against thirteen KTM and Husqvarna machines, road and circuit models together, so check the year alongside the model when you order. The list is in the Fitment tab.
